Surplus was formed when a group of friends forming multiple bands disbanded. All that was left at that Muurame town council rehearsal space was Artturi and his guitar and Joonas, also a guitarist, who decided to pick up the drumsticks since no drummers remained in the building. Starting out in late 2015, or early 2016 (we'll get back to you on that!) the duo quickly found a common love for melodic, noisy rock. Following the release of a 2016 demo, EPs in 2017 and 2018, the band put out their ambitious concept album debut 'Hindsight' in 2020. Thruout this, playing every cool show they could get their grubby little mitts on. Highlights include a record release livestream for Hindsight, a last-minute call to rock Naamat Festival 2022 and clogging up Jyväskylä's uptown with their roaring live performance at Grilli 21 at Yläkaupungin Yö 2022. The best of the best is yet to come.
